1. ROOF INSPECTION
If you are in a neighborhood that was hit by hail, if you are experiencing roof leaks of any kind, or if you just want to make sure everything looks good up there, give us a call and we'll come do a free roof inspection. Typically, this takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the property. We'll figure out a time that works best for you!
Our top priority is to deduce whether or not there's enough hail damage to your roof to get the roof covered by insurance, which means you'd get a new roof for just the price of your deductible (unless you have an ACV policy, which is covered here). If you've already filed a claim with your insurance company prior to this inspection, then that's great! You're on the right track. If not, we can help you file a claim if we see that there's damage to your roof.

2. INSURANCE ADJUSTMENT
Once you've filed a claim with your insurance company, they'll schedule a time with you for their adjuster to come out and look at the roof. Once you know when they're coming out, let us know and we'll be out there to meet them as well. We find it's helpful to be there as the adjuster surveys your property in order to ensure a thorough and fair documentation of the damage. Not every roofing company does this, but we want to be your advocate and help you get the proper coverage that you deserve.
In the next few days following the adjustment, the adjuster will either (1) write up the estimate themselves or (2) send off their assessment of the roof and property to a desk adjuster, who then writes the estimate. You should get your estimate in the days following the adjustment. This time frame is dependent on your insurance company, as some take longer than others to get this to you.
If you've called us after you've already gotten your adjustment, that's okay too! We like to be there, but it isn't absolutely necessary, and we can still do your roof. In this case, we may do a roof inspection after your adjustment to make sure everything looks good on your estimate. |
3. ESTIMATE/ADJUSTMENT REVIEW
Once you receive your estimate, forward it to us so we can review it. We'll need to make sure the estimate includes everything that it needs to in order for us to give you the quality roof that you deserve. If there's something amiss in the estimate, for example- if the estimate doesn't include coverage for gutters, but when we did our inspection, we noticed that the gutters did in fact have hail damage, we'll submit what's called a "supplemental adjustment" to your insurance company. We use the software that most insurance companies use to record anything that's been missed and we'll send our documentation to the insurance company in order to try to get those things covered for you.
The estimate outlines the work that needs to be done, and it's what we follow when doing these jobs. It also outlines how your insurance will pay you and what they will pay you, and what your deductible is. Typically, for most insurance policies, this happens in two steps. (1) They will send you the first check that consists of the actual cash value of what they will be helping you replace. This is typically a smaller check that covers the current value of the things that need replacing. So, if your roof is 30 years old and has seen better days, the actual value will probably not be much. However, once we replace the roof and provide documentation to the insurance company showing that the work has been done, they will (2) send you the second check that consists of the depreciation, which, combined with the actual cash value, covers the replacement cost of the roof (and whatever else they deem in need of replacement/ repair).

4. CONTRACT SIGNING
After we've gone over your estimate extensively and touch base with you about what your insurance will cover, we draft up a contract that we will go over with you. This contract includes general information about your property, your claim number, and is also a place where we record information like what shingle color you'd like for your home.
The contract is also where we record any supplemental costs for the project. For example, if your insurance says that there's not enough hail damage to two of your gutters and downspouts for them to cover the replacement, but the other two gutters and downspouts are covered by insurance, you might decide you just want them all replaced. We can do that! You will just have to pay for the two not covered by insurance out of your pocket.

Don Dimig, the owner of the company, is a general contractor- so, while our specialty is roofs, we can also help replace and repair windows, window screens, siding, and other things for your home. Your adjustment might have noted damage to things like window screens and siding, and while we are able to help with these, if you'd prefer to get those taken care of yourself, then that's an option as well. We'll go through the estimate and exclude those items from our contract with you so the contract only covers things that you want us to take care of for you.
This contract signing is also where we will collect your deductible check if you have it ready. If not, no worries! We can pick it up from you at a later date if needed. If you have questions about your deductible and are confused at why you pay your deductible to your contractor, read more here. |
5. ROOF REPLACEMENT
Once we've reviewed the contract with you and you've signed it, we'll begin pulling permits for your city and county in order to be able to begin construction. This usually takes a few days. Once we've gotten permits, we order materials and touch base with our distributors to figure out what their timeline is. Sometimes, they can get materials delivered the next day. Other times, they are backlogged, and it takes a week. So, we coordinate with them, our work crews, and with you to figure out a time to do the work on your roof. Sometimes, the materials will be delivered a few days prior to the work starting, but we'll always call you to let you know what the timeline will be.
We'll call you before work starts to tell you how to prepare your property for the work that needs to be done. We advise that you park your car on the street when the crew is working on your roof so they can fit their materials and vehicles near the roof, and this also protects your car from any falling debris. If you have anything fragile hanging on the walls inside your house that is not securely fixed to your wall, we also advise taking them down. There will be a lot of workers on your roof walking around, moving materials, and nailing things down, and things can shake inside the house. We want to make sure your belongings and your property are protected.

The work on your roof is typically speedy, taking 2 days at most. Our crews are reliable and efficient, and our project managers will stop in to survey the work while it is being done. After they finish, we communicate with your insurance company to tell them that the work has been completed so they send you the remainder of the money they owe!
